∑ Chess 4.0.1 Lite Endgame Databases
_____________________________________________
September 9, 1998
The endgame database generators will generate the following databases:
• KQKR (includes KQK)
• KBNK
The commercial version of ∑ Chess additionally supports the following
databases:
• KQKB
• KQKN
• KRKB
• KRKN (includes KRK)
• KBBK
Note that the KPK database is built in to ∑ Chess (because it's much smaller), and that
there thus is no database generator for this ending. Note also, that the KQK and KRK
databases are included in the KQKR and KRKN databases respectively.
Each database takes up about 3.7 Mb disk space. The generation process is rather time
consuming, therefore you should use the PPC native versions if you own a PowerMac.
You don't have to generate these databases for ∑ Chess to run. If the program ends up
in one of the above endgames, it will try to consult the corresponding database. If there
is no database (or ∑ Chess can't find it), the program simply starts thinking using
it's normal search engine.
NOTE: ∑ Chess expects the endgame databases to reside in the "Endgame DB" folder. If
this is not the case, ∑ Chess can't find them.
Have fun!!
